The Government Medical College, Srikakulam was established in the year 2008 by then the Chief Minister late Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy Garu. It is well known as RIMS (Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences), Srikakulam and is extended over an area of 35.97 acres. The College is affiliated to Dr Y.S.R University of Health Sciences, approved by INC & APNMC.

The College is attached to GMC as a teaching hospital has been catering to various needs of people like dialysis, blood bank, Sadaram, etc. Hostel facilities are provided for the Students.
