Government College of Nursing, Patiala was established in the year 1958 with the first batch of GNM students. Later it is upgraded into College of Nursing in the year 2002. The College is affiliated to Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot, Punjab Nurses’ Registration Council, Chandigarh, Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi & Government of Punjab.

The scope of nursing practice encompasses provision of promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative aspects of care to people across their life span in wide variety of health care settings. Practice of nursing is based upon application of basic concept and principles derived from the physical , biological and behavioural sciences, medicine and nursing. The College has well - equipped library one and other at medical college. A full- furnished computer lab is available to make the students competent in computer technology. Full-equipped demonstration room is available to develop new nursing skills and brush off old ones. Also a well ventilated and furnished hostel building is available for girls.
