Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, the prestigious institution of the Steel City, was started on 23rd April 1986 by upgrading the existing District Government Hospital which was started on 1917 in a span of 150 acres land. Inorder to serve the sick and needy people of Salem and the adjacent districts.
Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College, the prestigious Institution of the Steel City, was started on 23rd April 1986 by upgrading the existing District Government Hospital which was started on 1917 in a span of 150 acres land, in order to serve the sick and needy people of Salem and the adjacent districts. The College is affiliated to Dr. M.G.R Medical University , approved by Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Tamil Nadu Nurses & Midwives Council (TNC). The annual intake for B. Sc Nursing is 50. The Students are provided all requirements in the College as per university norms. An air-conditioned library facility, accommodating almost 200 students at a single time is available. A computer based e-library is available with 40 computers. There is also an air-conditioned study hall for professors and other teaching staff, which accommodates 20 people at a time. Parking facilities for doctors and students are available outside the premises. The College has separate hostel facilities for boys & girls. Gents hostel holds 120 rooms. Ladies hostel holds 140 rooms. RO purified drinking water facility is available. Security personnel are posted round the clock for the safety of students. Hostel is surrounded by twelve-foot compound wall with fences. A large cricket cum football ground is available common for gents and ladies, with separate volleyball and basketball play area.
