Starting from the academic year of 2023-2024, students who want to enrol in the B.Sc Nursing programme in Karnataka will be required to take an entrance exam. This decision was made by the Karnataka State Government following a directive from the Indian Nursing Council (INC) to improve the standard of nursing education in the state.
Previously, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) assigned B.Sc. Nursing seats are based on 10+2/second PUC grades, but now all government and management quota seats in private nursing colleges will be filled through counselling based on entrance tests. About 40,000 B.Sc. nursing seats are available in roughly 200 nursing institutes throughout Karnataka.
Students can take either the KCET 2023 - the Karnataka Common Entrance Test for B.Sc. Nursing admissions. The KCET 2023 application window will be reopened to accommodate students from other states, and KEA is considering allotting exam centres only in Bengaluru for such students. The application fees for the Karnataka BSc Nursing Entrance Exam 2023 vary based on the applicant's category. For other state students, the fee is Rs. 1000, while both General and OBC candidates must pay the same amount. SC/ST candidates, on the other hand, will be charged a lower fee of Rs. 500. It's important to note that application fees must be paid online while submitting the application form.
